ISTANBUL, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The number of motor vehicle registrations increased by 80.4 percent year-on-year in October across Türkiye, official data revealed on Tuesday.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute report, compared to October last year, the most significant increase in new registrations was for minibuses, which rose by 196.4 percent, followed by motorcycles with 158.8 percent and cars with 72.3 percent.
The data showed that 1.9 million vehicles were registered between January and October, bringing the total of registered motor vehicles to 28.4 million.
Meanwhile, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market grew by 55.9 percent in September compared to the same month last year, according to the data released by the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association.
Baran Celik, chairman of the Union of Automotive Exporters, said Türkiye's automotive exports increased by 15 percent to 25.6 billion U.S. dollars in January-September, adding Türkiye is expected to see a record high export figure of 35 billion dollars this year. ■
