BANGKOK, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- With a focus on innovative contributions, "Thailand has been a frontier for our innovation," mainly due to the widespread use of the company's 5G networks in the southeast Asian country, said Chen Zhiping, vice president of ZTE.

ZTE's contributions in the kingdom extend to network coverage, bandwidth efficiency improvement, and personalized networks tailored for specific industries, she said in a recent interview with Xinhua.

"Our focus is practical applications, contributing to the technological progress of Thailand," she said at the ZTE 5G Summit and User Congress 2023 held in Bangkok on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Under the theme "Embrace the Digital Nexus," the two-day event brought together telecom regulators, industry organizations, carriers, think tanks, partners, and analysts. It served as a unique platform for the exchange of ideas and insights on 5G, future networks, and digital innovations.

With years of development, ZTE has evolved into a global player in the tech industry. "Our business has expanded globally, with a particular focus on Asia-Pacific," she said, underscoring the company's investments in digital infrastructure development.

Collaboration with local internet providers and telecommunication agencies plays a crucial role in ZTE's global strategy, Chen said. "This is essential for our global operations, addressing challenges in self-development amid uncertainties."

On the role of artificial intelligence (AI), Chen highlighted ZTE's commitment to AI integration in 5G networks.

As AI is widely adopted nowadays, she said ZTE's exploration of large-scale AI models is grounded in practical applications, such as countering phone scams.

Talking about the broader societal impact, Chen said, "AI models contribute significantly to societal wellbeing," highlighting ZTE's dedication to practical technological advancements.

"5G has done what was impossible in the past. For enhancing industrial capabilities, 5G is not just an additional enhancement but actually addresses past vulnerabilities," she said.

She hoped that various industries will turn to using 5G more, contributing to commercial success and development in various fields.
