KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's vehicle sales rose 9.89 percent to 74,896 units in October from 68,156 units in September, the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) said on Wednesday.
The MAA said in a statement that the strong total industry volume (TIV) growth recorded was primarily in the passenger vehicles segment driven mostly by the national makes.
On a yearly basis, car sales in October were also up 20.96 percent from 61,920 units.
From January to October, Malaysia's car sales stood at 646,840 units, growing 11.73 percent from 578,917 units a year ago.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's total industry production stood at 74,191 units in October, increasing by 7.32 percent from 69,133 units in September.
On a year-on-year basis, total cars produced also went up 25.77 percent from 58,991 units a year ago.
From January to October, Malaysia produced 640,633 units of cars, up 12.84 percent from 567,752 units a year earlier.
As for November, the MAA expects sales to remain at October 2023's level. ■
