MADRID, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- La Liga outfit Real Mallorca has been hit with the news that striker Vedat Muriqi could be out of action for around six weeks.

Muriqi injured a calf muscle while playing in Kosovo's 1-0 win over Israel, which was played behind closed doors in Cyprus on Sunday.

The Spanish club issued a communique explaining that "after the tests carried out in Kosovo by his national team, we can confirm that Vedat Muriqi has suffered muscle damage to his left calf," and although the club has not put a date on his return, he will likely be out for at least a month.

Muriqi's injury comes at a bad moment for Mallorca, who is currently fourth from bottom of La Liga with just nine points from its first 12 games of the campaign. The big striker is their top scorer with four goals from 12 starts, and last season found the opposition net 14 times.

However, his presence in attack means Muriqi is more important than just his goals, as his ability in the air makes him a constant threat from set pieces and brings his teammates into play.

He is now likely to miss important matches against Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, as well as against Alaves and Cadiz, who are direct rivals in the fight to avoid relegation.
