RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Ze Ricardo has been sacked as manager of Cruzeiro after less than 10 weeks in the role, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Sunday.
The announcement came less than a day after Cruzeiro suffered a 1-0 defeat at Coritiba.
"We thank [Ricardo] for his dedication and professionalism and wish him very success in the future," Cruzeiro said in a statement.
The club added that youth team manager Fernando Seabra would initially take charge of the first team on an interim basis.
Ricardo guided Cruzeiro to three wins, two draws and five defeats following his appointment in early September.
Cruzeiro, owned by legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo, are currently 17th in the 20-team top-flight standings with six games remaining in the season. ■
