YAOUNDE, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The third edition of Central Africa Business Energy Forum opened in the Chadian capital of N'Djamena Wednesday with delegates renewing the call for greater uptake of clean sources of energy in order to secure a climate-resilient future for the sub-region.

Chadian Petroleum and Energy Minister Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye opened the three-day forum that has gathered government officials, senior policymakers, industry executives, investors, researchers and innovators to discuss energy security.

Despite having significant potential in hydrocarbons and renewable energy, Central Africa is still experiencing an energy crisis, said the official.

The focal point of the forum will be the Central African Pipeline System, a cross-border energy project that seeks to construct a 6,500-km regional oil and gas pipeline by a coalition of Central African nations. The project will bridge the access gap that has stifled industrialization, poverty alleviation, and social cohesion in Central Africa, Naimbaye said.

"This ambitious project is considered as the most promising for cooperation among Central Africa states," she added.
