BISHKEK, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov has signed the country's first legal act on the development of telemedicine, the Ministry of Health press service said Thursday.

The adopted act regulates the rules for the use of telemedicine technologies in medical aid by healthcare organizations, or persons providing private medical services by using telemedicine technologies, it said.

In accordance with the act, telemedicine technologies can be used for the purposes of prevention, collection, diagnosis, evaluation of the effectiveness of diagnostic and treatment measures, monitoring the patient's health status and so on.

The law also defines the requirements for telemedicine information systems, documenting information about the provision of medical care and the areas of responsibility of participants in telemedicine consultations.

The legislation will contribute to more efficient and accessible medical care for the population, especially in remote areas of the country, reduce time and financial costs on the part of the population and boost the development of the country's healthcare, said the ministry.
