COPENHAGEN, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Denmark is gearing up for a significant upgrade to its green transport infrastructure with the launch of a project to build 25 charging parks for electric trucks by 2030, according to a press release from the Ministry of Transport on Thursday.
The total investment will reach nearly 700 million Danish kroner (100 million U.S. dollars).
According to the press release, the aim is to make sure that drivers of electric trucks can find dependable, fast charging stations spaced no more than 60 kilometers apart along the country's state highways.
With a total capacity of 133 megawatts, the new charging parks are expected to have 175 lightning charging outlets.
The Danish government expects the infrastructure to play a pivotal role in the transition to electric heavy road transport.
According to the ministry, these facilities will be developed through government tenders, in which private entities will be invited to compete.
The first batch of five charging parks is to open as early as 2025, said the ministry. ■
