JERUSALEM, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- FIBA Champions League side Hapoel Holon signed former NBA player Nick Johnson, the Israeli club said in a statement on Sunday.

The 30-year-old American guard played college basketball in Arizona, where he was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year in 2014.

He was then selected in the 2014 NBA draft with the 42nd overall pick by the Houston Rockets, where he averaged 2.6 points and 0.4 assists in 28 regular season games, alongside 1.3 points and 0.4 assists in nine playoff games.

His European career began in 2016 and included Bayern Munich, Nanterre 92, and Türk Telekom.

In August 2022, he joined the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, where he played 32 games with the Ducks, averaging 9.9 points and 3.9 assists per game.

Johnson arrived in Holon in place of American guard Ahmad Caver, who left the club due to the security situation in Israel.

Due to the Israel-Hamas fighting, Holon will host its Group F Champions League home games in Athens.
