SYDNEY, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- A man was arrested in Western Australia (WA) after a shooting injured one person on Saturday and sent a town east of Perth into temporary lockdown.

According to the WA Police Force, at about 8:45 a.m. local time, emergency services were responding to a firearm incident near the intersection of Needham Road and Marauba Close in Wooroloo.

A man was found sustaining a gunshot injury.

With a significant police presence in the area, including several specialist units, nearby residents were advised to remain inside their houses and keep doors closed.

At about 12:10 p.m. local time, police confirmed that one man was taken into custody, but they continued to search the area to establish if there was anyone else involved.

Residents in Wooroloo are advised that police no longer have immediate concerns for public safety, and residents can return to normal activity.

With a population of around 2,613 people, Wooroloo is located about 60 km east of Perth's metropolitan region.
