UNITED NATIONS, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council on Thursday renewed the authorization of the EU-led peacekeeping force in Bosnia-Herzegovina for another 12 months.
The 15-member council unanimously adopted Resolution 2706, which re-authorizes European Union Force Althea (EUFOR ALTHEA) and the NATO presence in Bosnia-Herzegovina for 12 months starting from the date of adoption of this resolution.
EUFOR ALTHEA, a successor to the NATO-led Stabilization Force, has a mission to ensure continued compliance with the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement, which put an end to the 1992-1995 Bosnian War. ■
