MAUI, United States, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. leading chip manufacturer Qualcomm expects to expand cooperation with industrial chains in China and Chinese partners in wireless communication to achieve a win-win in the global market, Frank Meng, chairman of Qualcomm China, has said.

"China has always been Qualcomm's most important global market. More than half of Qualcomm's global revenue comes from the Chinese market," Meng told Xinhua on the sidelines of Qualcomm's annual tech summit, held last week in Maui in the U.S. state of Hawaii.

Qualcomm has maintained close cooperation with Chinese enterprises over the years to promote technological development and the launch of products in the global market, Meng noted, adding such strategic cooperation in wireless communication has also enabled Qualcomm to lead in global competition.

Qualcomm, a leading global company in next-generation wireless technologies headquartered in San Diego, California, entered the Chinese market in the 1990s and has been strengthening its business presence in China for nearly 30 years.

"Qualcomm has witnessed and participated in China's reform and opening-up process and thrived together with China's mobile communication industry," said Meng.

"China has been vigorously promoting the development of innovative economy, and the entire society has been increasingly aware of respecting innovation and protecting intellectual property rights," Meng noted.

Meng expressed his confidence in the Chinese economy's resilience and long-term sound momentum.

China's smartphone market is showing signs of recovery, Meng said, adding that Qualcomm is confident in the future development of China's mobile communication industry.

Regarding 5G development, Meng said China has been a leading force in formulating 5G standards and promoting the development of global 5G technology.

Since China granted 5G licenses for commercial use in 2019, the country has ranked first in terms of the speed of 5G network building, the scale of building base stations and the number of 5G users in the world, Meng said.

Qualcomm will continue to work closely with Chinese partners to jointly promote 5G deployment, Meng said.

Meng said Qualcomm was among the first American companies to participate in the inaugural China International Import Expo (CIIE) in 2018, and will attend the CIIE for the sixth year in a row.

The sixth CIIE will be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5-10, and over 3,400 exhibitors from 154 countries, regions and international organizations have registered to take part in the event.

"CIIE has provided a good platform for Qualcomm to showcase new technologies, fruitful cooperation with Chinese companies and new experiences for the public," Meng said.

"Meanwhile, many local governments take the platform of the CIIE to share local industrial policies and tech development directions. It offers great opportunities for Qualcomm to learn and better communicate with local governments, industries and other relevant parties through CIIE," he added.

Qualcomm expects to showcase its latest cooperation achievements, new innovative products, applications and user experience at the upcoming CIIE, Meng told Xinhua.
