TOKYO, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The China Film Week of the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) has concluded, with the Golden Crane Awards ceremony held in Tokyo on Tuesday.
Among the 13 films shown during the event, Lost in the Stars won the Golden Crane Award for the best film and Manifesto for the jury prize. Manifesto's director Hou Yong snatched the best director award while Chinese actor Liu Ye and actress Ni Ni won the best actor and actress awards, respectively.
Wu Jianghao, Chinese ambassador to Japan, said at the closing ceremony that using movies as a bridge can deepen mutual understanding between the people of the two countries and thus promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan, the ambassador said, calling for taking this opportunity to revisit the original intention of signing the treaty, cement the foundation of friendship, and jointly push for the steady and lasting development of bilateral relations.
Japanese director Yojiro Takita, actress Youki Kudoh and other Japanese film industry figures attended the closing ceremony and served as the award-presenting guests.
Komaki Kurihara, vice president of the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association, said in her speech that she sincerely hopes that the film exchanges between Japan and China will enjoy rapid development in the future.
The 36th Tokyo International Film Festival will be held through Nov. 1. As part of the festival, the China Film Week was held on Oct. 17-24. ■
