The 24 solar terms, consisting of 12 major solar terms and 12 minor solar terms, were created thousands of years ago by the ancient Chinese to guide agricultural production.

Frost's Descent, or "Shuangjiang," the 18th solar term, falls on October 24 this year. As the last solar term in autumn, Frost's Descent signifies the upcoming winter. Days around Frost's Descent are harvest time for most crops.
