ZARANJ, Afghanistan, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- An essential bridge in west Afghanistan's Nimroz province has been opened to traffic, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.

The 300-meter-long bridge was constructed at a cost of 231 million afghanis (about 3.06 million U.S. dollars), was completed on Thursday with the financial support of local authorities and formally opened to traffic on Friday, the state media outlet added.

Similarly, the construction of roads with a cost of 132,500 dollars began in east Afghanistan's Parwan Province on Thursday.

As part of efforts to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan, the Afghan caretaker government, besides launching some development projects, has also called upon national and international companies to invest and create job opportunities for poverty-stricken people.
