BEIRUT, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- One Hezbollah fighter was killed and three civilians were wounded on Thursday in confrontations between Israeli forces and Hezbollah along the Lebanese-Israeli borders.
Hezbollah, a Shiite military group, mourned its fighter in a statement released on Thursday, without providing more details.
A medical source in southern Lebanon, who requires anonymity, told Xinhua that a Lebanese citizen in her 50s was injured after her home was attacked in the town of Hula in southeastern Lebanon.
The source added that two other citizens from the town of Kfarchouba were injured as their house was hit by Israel's artillery shelling.
Sources from Lebanon's Internal Security Forces said Israel's artillery shelling on Thursday affected the outskirts of 22 towns in southern Lebanon. The Israeli attacks burnt two houses and severely damaged another 25 homes.
Lebanese military sources confirmed that the Israeli army expanded its bombing area to include several areas along the borderline from Naqoura in the west to Shebaa and Kfarchouba in the east.
For its part, Hezbollah claimed in several statements on Thursday that it had attacked armored Israeli vehicles, barracks, a watchtower and radars, causing several injuries.
Also on Thursday, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for launching 30 missiles from Lebanon toward West Galilee.
