BRUSSELS, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- A bomb threat triggered the evacuation of Ostend-Bruges Airport in north-western Belgium on Wednesday, two days after two people were killed in a deadly shooting in the center of Brussels.
Following the threat, flights scheduled at Ostend-Bruges Airport were diverted to Brussels Airport.
At 1.20 p.m. (1120 GMT), the airport was made accessible to the public again and flights resumed gradually.
Also on Wednesday, two downtown areas in the city of Ghent in northwest Belgium were evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious package, raising security concerns in the country.
After a gunman shot dead two Swedish citizens in the center of Brussels on Monday evening, the authorities have raised the terror threat level to the highest (4) in the capital city and to 3 in the rest of the country, urging citizens to remain vigilant. ■
