FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Police have destroyed 57 acres of hashish in north Afghanistan's Badakhshan province over the past four days, said a statement of provincial police office on Tuesday.
The counter-narcotics police launched operations against illegal crops in Baharak district over the weekend and have destroyed 57 acres of hashish farmland in several villages over the past four days, the statement asserted.
Similarly, police have arrested six alleged drug smugglers in Kapisa and another in Khost provinces in the past couple of days.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to fight against illicit crops, processing to drug and drug trafficking until the once-poppy growing country gets rid of drug menace. ■
