HANOI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's gold prices exceeded 70 million Vietnamese dong (2,864 U.S. dollars) per tael Thursday morning, the highest level since the beginning of this year.
Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) sold each tael of their gold at 70.05 million dong in the capital Hanoi and 70.07 million dong in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City.
The prices went up 150,000 dong per tael compared to the previous day.
Jewelry firm DOJI's gold price is sold at 70 million dong per tael in Hanoi and 69.95 million dong in Ho Chi Minh City.
Gold ring price shot up 0.35 percent to 57.5 million dong per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.
Vietnam's gold prices reached the previous high in early September, at nearly 69 million dong per tael. (1 U.S. dollar equals 24,445 Vietnamese dong). ■
