S. Korea holds 100-day countdown celebration of Winter Youth Olympics

SEOUL, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Seoul metropolitan government held a celebration on Wednesday, 100 days ahead of the opening of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.

The celebration was held in the Seoul Plaza in central Seoul, featuring celebratory performances and a torch-lighting event by teenagers.

Starting from the Seoul Plaza, the torch is scheduled to arrive in the southeastern port city of Busan on Oct. 14 and the southern resort island of Jeju on Oct. 28 before moving throughout 18 cities and counties in the eastern province of Gangwon.

The 2024 Winter Youth Olympics will be held in Gangwon from Jan. 19 to Feb. 1, with some 1,900 athletes from 80 countries and regions scheduled to participate in 15 disciplines across seven sports.
