BOGOTA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Monterrey right-back Stefan Medina has been added to Colombia's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Ecuador, the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) said on Saturday.

The 31-year-old replaces Daniel Munoz who was ruled out of the matches due to an unspecified injury.

"Manager Nestor Lorenzo, his coaching staff and the squad of players wish Daniel Munoz a speedy recovery, hoping that in the next opportunity he can once again be part of the Colombian national team," read an FCF statement.

It added that Medina was due to arrive in Barranquilla on a flight from Mexico late on Saturday.

Medina, who has been capped 30 times for Colombia, has not represented his country since September last year.

Colombia will play Uruguay in Barranquilla on Thursday and Ecuador in Quito five days later.

The Cafeteros began their qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup with a 1-0 win over Venezuela and a goalless draw with Chile last month.
