GAZA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), said on Saturday that the fighting with the Israeli army is still continuing in 25 sites in the Israeli cities.
In a statement, al-Qassam said that "our fighters were able to cross the enemy's defensive line under intense missile cover and targeting of the enemy's command and control systems."
"Based on simultaneous coordination, they (fighters) attacked more than 50 sites in the Gaza Division and the southern region of the occupation army, which led to the overthrow of the division's defense," al-Qassam added.
Al-Qassam said its fighters continue to engage in battles in 25 Israeli locations, with fighting currently taking place at the Ra'im base, headquarters of the Gaza Division.
Hamas, the group that controls Gaza, fired thousands of rockets into Israeli territory on Saturday morning. In addition, tens of Hamas militants infiltrated into Israeli towns adjacent to the coastal enclave and opened fires at the Israeli settlers, killing some of them and capturing others.
The Hamas attack has killed more than 100 Israelis, according to the Israeli Health Ministry. As a result, the Israeli army attacked tens of military sites and residential buildings in Gaza, killing at least 198 Palestinians. ■
