HANGZHOU, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Abdullah Waleed Al Sharbatly of Saudi Arabia rode around the arena to celebrate his victory in the equestrian show jumping individual at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Friday.
"We achieved our goals and improved ourselves through the Games," said the 41-year-old, who also helped Saudi Arabia claim the jumping team gold on Wednesday. "I am grateful to all our supporters and my team. I am very happy to win this gold medal in such a beautiful city as Hangzhou."
Prior to Sharbatly's double golds in Hangzhou, he had already clinched four golds at the Asian Games and an Olympic bronze medal at London 2012. "My next goal is the World Cup final in Saudi Arabia, then the Olympics in Paris. I believe I can do it," he said.
As of Friday, all equestrian events concluded with six gold medals awarded. Chinese riders won the team and individual golds in eventing, while Saudi Arabia swept both titles in jumping. India and Malaysia each took one gold. ■
