YANGON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar exported about 239,191 tons of green grams in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2023-24, earning more than 161 million U.S. dollars, the Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.
From April 1 to Sept. 29 this year, the country shipped over 183,198 tons of green grams via sea route, and more than 55,992 tons via land border, the ministry's figures showed.
The total volume of green grams exported in the cited period has dropped, as compared to about 329,749 tons in the same period a year earlier.
The Southeast Asian country earned over 715 million dollars from the export of over 863,366 tons of beans and pulses during April to September this year.
According to the ministry, beans and pulses are Myanmar's second-most cultivated crops after rice, and account for over 30 percent of the total agricultural production.
