TEHRAN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Deputy Chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination Habibollah Sayyari said that the domestically-produced Karrar drones are now equipped with air-to-air missiles, Iran's IRIB news agency reported on Thursday.
Sayyari, who also commanded a large-scale drone exercise conducted by the Iranian army, explained that these drones demonstrated the ability to detect, lock onto, and engage targets while in flight during the recent drill.
The exercise, which began on Tuesday, involved nearly 200 unmanned aerial vehicles from various units of the Iranian Army, covering extensive regions across the country to enhance combat preparedness under realistic conditions, the Iranian official added.
Iran's military also noted on Tuesday that the home-developed Kaman-19 drone successfully performed radar jamming, deception maneuvers, and electronic warfare missions during the exercise. ■
