KATHMANDU -- At least 13 people were injured and one went missing after a series of earthquakes jolted Bajhang district in far-western Nepal on Tuesday afternoon, a local official said.
The first tremor measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck at 14:40 local time in Telkot area, followed by another measuring 6.3 in Chainpur area. (Nepal-Earthquakes)

BANGKOK -- A suspected gunman was arrested following a shooting at a renowned shopping mall in downtown Bangkok that killed at least two people and injured five others on Tuesday, police said.
Local police rushed to the scene at around 4:20 p.m. local time, said Archayon Kraithong, spokesman for Thai Police. Local media footage showed visitors were evacuated from the Siam Paragon Mall after the gunshots. (Thailand-Shooting)

PUL-E-ALAM, Afghanistan -- Afghan security forces have detained four people with 350 kg of opium poppy in east Afghanistan's Logar province, state-run news agency Bakhtar reported Tuesday.
The smugglers attempted to smuggle the opium poppy by car, but the security forces discovered the smuggled goods and detained the four commuters on the charge of trafficking the contraband, the news agency added. (Afghanistan-Drugs)

JAKARTA -- The forest fire on the Indonesian mountain Lawu on the island of Java spread to 1,100 hectares Tuesday, according to an official.
At 3,265 meters above sea level and being one of the destinations for trekkers, the mountain is located on the border of Karanganyar Regency in Central Java province and Magetan and Ngawi Regency in East Java province.
