VIENTIANE, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport and its partners will discuss and share their experiences of urbanization challenges and opportunities and highlight the importance of resilient urban economies in driving growth and recovery.
The discussions will take place at the Second Lao National Urban Forum, held in Lao capital Vientiane from Monday to Friday, led by the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Lao national TV reported on Wednesday.
The forum is participated by representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United Nations (UN), other international development agencies, embassies and related organizations. Lao Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Vilaykham Phosalath, is leading the discussions.
The aim of the forum is to provide a platform for dialogue and collaboration among urban stakeholders in Laos.
The talks will center on identifying innovative and practical solutions for urban development in Laos.
Participants will also discuss the challenges and opportunities relating to socio-economic development and rapid urban growth.
Representatives of various sectors will share their opinions on development and suggest solutions to problems encountered by cities as they strive to be both modern and sustainable.
It is hoped that the forum will increase awareness and understanding of the importance of sustainable urban economies in driving growth and recovery in Laos and identifying new and practical solutions for urban development.
Countries around the world are placing increasing importance on urban development, including Laos, which is reflected in the various activities and projects taking place in relation to urban development. ■
