NEW DELHI, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- At least five persons died and five others were injured when a truck ran over them while they were asleep by the roadside in India's western state of Maharashtra.
The mishap occurred in the early hours of Monday at the Nagpur-Mumbai national highway, near Buldhana district, media report said.
The victims were laborers who were sleeping inside makeshift huts by the roadside. They were working at a service road being constructed in Wadner Bholji village.
While three persons were killed on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital, a cop was quoted as saying. ■
