BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Daniil Medvedev of Russia advanced to the men's singles final of China Open after he seized two crucial breaks to beat Alexander Zverev of Germany 6-4, 6-3 here on Tuesday.
Both players held serve until the 10th game of the first set when the world No. 3 had gained three break points. The eighth seed Zverev saved two but fell on the third, thus conceding the first set.
Medvedev then broke in the eighth game of the second set, before holding his serve on love in the following game to win the match.
The second seed's win put an end to Zverev's seven-match winning streak.
In the final, Medvedev will face the winner between the top seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and sixth-seeded Jannik Sinner of Italy. ■
