MADRID, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Almeria striker Luis Suarez went from glory to despair on Sunday in his side's vital relegation duel at home to Granada.

The Colombian forward looked to have given his side their first win of the season with goals in the 41st and 44th minutes of the game, and in the first minute of first-half injury time.

The third quickest hat-trick in La Liga this century put bottom side Almeria, who had sacked coach Vicente Moreno during the week, 3-0 up against the side one place above them in the table.

However, Granada clawed their way back into the match, with goals after 66 and 70 minutes, before disaster struck in the 81st minute when Suarez stretched for a ball, fell badly and had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

Tests quickly showed that he has broken the fibula bone in his left leg and will be out of action for a recovery estimated to be between three and six months, robbing a team already in trouble of their best hope of avoiding relegation.

To make matters even worse for Almeria, Myrto Uzuni scored an equalizing goal for Granada five minutes after Suarez's injury to leave them still bottom of the table with three points from eight games.
