TEHRAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Three Iranian fishermen imprisoned in Seychelles have been released and returned to their home country, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.

Two other Iranian fishermen, the last remaining Iranians imprisoned in Seychelles, were still awaiting the completion of necessary processes before returning to their country by Oct. 9, said Tasnim.

Iran's Ambassador to Madagascar Hassan Ali-Bakhshi thanked Seychelles' government for its cooperation in the citizens' repatriation. He also called on Iranian fishermen to obtain permits and documents, as well as required safety equipment before fishing in international waters.

In remarks in April last year, Ali-Bakhshi said over the past few years, several Iranians, without necessary safety equipment and identity documents, have been arrested by the maritime patrols of Seychelles and Mauritius after being taken as pirates.
