MEHTARLAM, Afghanistan, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Police have foiled attempts to traffic drugs and arrested four smugglers in east Afghanistan's Laghman province, a statement from the provincial police office said Sunday.
During routine checking of vehicles on a road in Laghman on Saturday night, police found 40 kg of illegal objects, locally known as crystal and used in manufacturing heroin, the statement said, adding police have taken into custody four people on the charge of smuggling the contraband.
All four have confessed to their involvement in drug smuggling and have been referred to judicially for further investigations, the statement said. ■
