HANGZHOU, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The city of Yiwu, a small-commodity production and wholesale hub in east China's Zhejiang Province, on Thursday launched a freight train service to Georgia's Poti Port.
A train fully loaded with daily necessities, used cars, clothing, shoes and hats departed from Yiwu on the new route. It will exit the country via Horgos Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and is expected to arrive in Poti in 20 to 25 days.
The combined rail-sea transportation service is the 19th China-Europe freight train route from Yiwu.
More than 6,200 China-Europe freight train trips have been made on the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe service since it was launched in 2014, carrying a total shipment volume of more than 520,000 TEUs and traveling to more than 160 cities in over 50 European and Asian countries and regions. ■
