KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The average life expectancy of babies born in 2023 is expected to be 74.8 years, according to the Abridged Life Tables, Malaysia, 2021-2023 findings released by the Department of Statistics.
The publication contains abridged life tables by age group, ethnic group and sex in state and country levels for the period 2021-2023, with the findings released on Tuesday.
A baby girl born in 2023 is expected to live up to 77.4 years, longer than a baby boy's expectancy of 72.5 years, according to the report.
Chief Statistician Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the highest life expectancy at birth by state from 2021 to 2023 was recorded by Selangor state, while Terengganu state recorded the lowest life expectancy for the same period. ■
