KABUL, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Police have discovered a huge cache of ammunitions containing a variety of shells and projectiles in the Police District 6 of Afghanistan's capital Kabul city, Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran said in a message posted on X, the former Twitter, on Tuesday.
The ammunition cache obviously hidden several years ago includes 145 pieces of BM-1 missiles, 68 pieces of mortar mines, 25 pieces of RPG-7 shells, thousands of bullets and pressure mines, Zadran added.
In the meantime, state-run news agency Bakhtar reported that the armaments are found during the construction of a road recently.
Kabul was the center of factional fighting among several armed groups in the 1990s, and according to Kabul residents, many arms depots might have been left over by former armed outfits. ■
