BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted South Sandwich Islands region at 04:12:19 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 147.1 km, was initially determined to be at 55.90 degrees south latitude and 28.32 degrees west longitude. ■
