NANNING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Youyi Pass, also known as Friendship Pass, on the China-Vietnam border has processed over 300,000 freight vehicles so far this year, up 150 percent year on year, according to local authorities.
As of 9 p.m. Wednesday, the border port had handled 300,000 inbound and outbound freight vehicles, suggesting its robust recovery in terms of cross-border cargo transport.
The port is one of the largest land ports in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, south China, and is also one of the most convenient land routes to ASEAN member countries and an important fruit entry port.
During the first eight months of this year, fruit imported from ASEAN countries through the Youyi Pass amounted to 540,000 tonnes, worth 16.33 billion yuan (about 2.28 billion U.S. dollars), posting a year-on-year increase of 125.9 percent in volume and 359.7 percent in value.
Cargo includes durian, jackfruit, dragon fruit, mango, mangosteen and other tropical fruits, said the port. ■
