HANOI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's fertilizer import in August hit the highest volume in more than two years, according to the latest statistics of the country's General Department of Customs.
Over 472,000 tons of fertilizers worth 159 million U.S. dollars were imported by Vietnam in August, marking the highest import volume since July 2021.
The imported fertilizer in August increased by 54 percent over July in volume and 85 percent in value.
China is Vietnam's biggest fertilizer provider so far this year, accounting for roughly half of all imported fertilizer with more than 1.2 million tons, valued at 375 million dollars, an increase of 15 percent year-on-year in volume and 14 percent in value.
As of August, Vietnam imported nearly 2.5 million tons of fertilizer worth 833 million dollars, a 13 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year but a 19 percent year-on-year decline in value. ■
