RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians recovered from two goals down to earn a 4-4 home draw with Gremio in Brazil's Serie A championship on Monday.
The visitors looked set for a comfortable victory after goals from Nathan Souza and Franco Cristaldo gave them a 2-0 lead before the half-hour mark.
But Fabio Romeu converted a penalty before Lucas Verissimo and Yuri Alberto struck in first-half stoppage time to hand the hosts a 3-2 advantage at the interval.
Everton and Luis Suarez struck in quick succession as Gremio wrested back the lead before Giuliano de Paula again put Corinthians on level terms with a low finish after combining with Wesley Gassova.
Both sides missed chances to take the lead in the final minutes as Gremio maintained their hopes of a top-two finish while Corinthians extended their winless league run to five games. ■
