BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- China on Tuesday issued orange and yellow alerts for potential geological disasters triggered by heavy rains in multiple parts of the country.
From 8 p.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Wednesday, some regions in northeastern Sichuan, northern Chongqing and southern Shaanxi are likely to experience geological disasters, according to an orange alert issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Meteorological Administration.
The two government departments also warned of risks of rain-induced geological disasters in parts of Shandong, Hubei, Sichuan, Chongqing and Shaanxi in a yellow alert.
Residents of affected areas have been advised to take precautions, particularly in areas with hidden dangers.
China has a four-tier, color-coded warning system for geological disasters, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. ■
