HANOI, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The revenue of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports is forecast to hit a record high of 5 billion U.S. dollars this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The prediction was made based on the country's favorable conditions since early this year, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Monday.

One of the favorable conditions mentioned by the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association was the increase in purchases from the Chinese market, fueled by the protocols that Vietnam signed with China in 2022.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to China reached 2 billion dollars in the first seven months of this year, increasing by 128.5 percent against the same period last year.

Vietnam's main fruit and vegetable export products to China include durians, mangos, dragon fruits, and bananas. Jackfruit export to the Chinese market also holds potential with a sharp increase predicted in the coming months.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports in the first eight months of 2023 reached 3.45 billion dollars, an increase of 57.5 percent over the same period last year and even exceeding the record value of 3.81 billion dollars in 2018.
