YANGON, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- A total of 362 votive tablets in different patterns of mudras were found in the compound of No. 4 Basic Education High School, Thaton Township of Myanmar's Mon State on Friday, according to state-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).

Earlier, 19 ancient votive tablets were found in this school compound on Aug. 30 while digging the soil for the construction of a new school building, it said.

"At present, we assume that those votive tablets were made in the Pyu era, which was earlier than the Bagan era, because those were found in Mon State and we can say more accurately after doing research," Assistant Director of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Mandalay) U Hla Shwe told Xinhua on Sunday.

The 19 votive tablets discovered earlier have been handed over to the Department of Archaeology and National Museum, Mon State, MRTV said.

The recently found tablets are temporarily kept at the school, it added.
