About 5,000 years ago, the Liangzhu culture thrived along the banks of the Qiantang River in China. Over the millennia that followed, this region underwent profound transformations, ultimately giving rise to Hangzhou, a renowned historical city and the host city of the 19th Asian Games.
As a remarkable testament to Chinese history, Hangzhou boasts five elements on the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as well as 48 national, 198 provincial and 428 municipal items of intangible cultural heritage. These cultural treasures collectively embody the city's spirit, characterized by delicacy, harmony, inclusivity, and openness.
