BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Ling Yanwu, a fugitive suspected of duty crime and economic crime, was captured overseas and repatriated to China on Sept. 7, according to an official statement released Monday.

Born in August 1976, Ling was the legal representative of a real estate marketing and planning company based in central China's Hunan Province.

Ling is suspected of bribery, abuse of power along with personnel of a state-owned company, conducting fraudulent fund-raising, and refusing to pay labor remuneration. He fled overseas in February 2019.

Authorities in charge of handling the case then froze the money he is suspected of gaining illicitly, and carried out international cooperation in law enforcement, resulting in the capture of Ling, the statement read.

Ling has severely damaged the interests of the people, roped in and corrupted public servants, and caused the loss of state-owned assets, said an official with the Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group.

The office will continue to deepen international anti-graft cooperation, maintain a tough position in securing fugitive repatriation and the return of criminal proceeds, and resolutely safeguard the people's immediate interests, according to the official. Enditem
