KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's wholesale and retail trade sales value reached 139.8 billion ringgit (29.9 billion U.S. dollars) in July, an increase of 7.2 percent year-on-year, official data showed Monday.
For month-on-month comparison, the sales value grew 0.9 percent, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
The year-on-year increase was attributed to wholesale trade sub-sector, which rose 5.7 percent to 63.1 billion ringgit.
Retail trade also expanded 5.5 percent to 59.7 billion ringgit.
This was followed by motor vehicles with an increase of 20.5 percent to settle at 17 billion ringgit. (1 ringgit equals 0.21 U.S. dollars) ■
