China wins one silver, one bronze at World Rowing Championships

BELGRADE, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese rowers and para-rowers clinched two medals at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade on Saturday.

China's team of Chen Yunxia, Zhang Ling, Lyu Yang, and Cui Xiaotong captured bronze in the women's quadruple sculls, finishing in 6 minutes 35.05 seconds, trailing behind Britain and the Netherlands. In the PR2 mixed double sculls final, Chinese para-rowers Liu Shuang and Jiang Jijian clinched silver, coming in after Britain.

Other qualifications for the Paris Olympics include the women's four team of Zhang Shuxian, Liu Xiaoxin, Wang Zifeng, and Xu Xingye, and the lightweight women's double sculls duo of Zou Jiaqi and Qiu Xiuping. Both teams placed sixth in Saturday's finals. The men's double sculls team will have their finals on Sunday.

Additionally, the PR3 mixed coxed four team, comprising Wang Xixi, Zeng Wanbin, Wu Yunlong, Jiang Lingtao, and Yu Li, secured their spot for Paris 2024, finishing sixth in the finals.

China has so far secured six berths for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On the competition's concluding day, Sunday, China's Liu Zhiyu and Zhang Liang will vie for a medal in the men's double sculls.
