JERUSALEM, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Former Barcelona stars, led by Brazilian icons Ronaldinho and Rivaldo, overcame Israel's Maccabi Haifa veterans 5-1 in an exhibition match at Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa on Thursday evening.
20,000 fans saw Reuven Atar score for Haifa in the eighth minute of the 80-minute match, with a 30-meter shot that bounced off the crossbar and into the net.
Barcelona responded in the second half, with Javier Saviola scoring twice, along with penalties from Ronaldinho and Bojan Krkic, and a volley from Ludovic Giuly.
This was the second time on their Israeli tour that the Barcelona team has scored five goals, after having beaten Maccabi Tel Aviv veterans 5-3 on Tuesday. ■
