TEHRAN, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A bus veered off course and crashed after an explosion and fire on board early Thursday, killing an infant and injuring nine others in western Iran, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
The explosion occurred at 04:00 a.m. local time (0030 GMT) as the bus was traveling through the Asadabad mountain pass near Bahar County in the western province of Hamedan, the Tasnim quoted Hassan Khanjani, the province's prosecutor, as saying.
The blast was caused by materials containing nitrate that were found in a passenger's backpack, Khanjani said. The owner of the backpack was also injured in the incident.
All the wounded were taken to a local hospital, the official added. ■
