TEHRAN, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and at least 41 others injured on Wednesday in a collision between a bus and eight sedans on an intercity road in Iran's northern province of Mazandaran, IRIB news agency reported.
The deadly incident occurred in Savadkuh County in the morning as the bus with malfunctioning brakes veered off the course and ran into eight sedans in the opposite lane before halting on an emergency escape ramp, IRIB quoted Mazandaran's Traffic Police Chief Yadollah Jahantab as saying.
Speaking to IRIB, Zakaria Ashkpour, spokesman of the provincial medical emergency organization, said five people were killed, and at least 41 others were injured in the incident.
All the injured have been transferred to medical centers, Ashkpour added. ■
