During the IFA 2023 trade fair in Germany, which spotlighted tech innovations with a sustainability focus, global manufacturers including Chinese brands have introduced sustainable power products to the European market.

BERLIN, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- IFA (Internationale Funk Ausstellung) 2023, one of the world's leading trade fairs for consumer electronics hosted by the capital of Germany, closed its gates on Tuesday.

The five-day event showcased new technologies and tech products released this year with a focus on building a more sustainable future, IFA's key theme and priority.

The exhibitors included major home appliance and tech companies, such as Samsung, Hisense and Miele, which brought to Berlin power-saving products and smart energy usage monitoring systems that help households save energy.

As artificial intelligence (AI) has seen unprecedented popularity this year, Samsung demonstrated how this technology could be used in home appliances.

By learning and analyzing users' patterns, AI can adjust appliance performance with each use, providing more tailored services that match unique user preferences and needs, while reducing energy use at the same time, according to the company.

"Sustainability is a global thing," Laura Friedrich from Miele's communications department told Xinhua. According to her, most of the home appliances' carbon emissions appear during the stage of being used in its lifecycle, instead of the manufacturing process. And that is why the company has been improving the energy efficiency of their products.

Miele also allows appliance users to monitor water and energy use, which helps them understand why they should use the "eco" mode, Friedrich said.

EcoFlow, a Chinese manufacturer of power products introduced products of portable power stations and solar power facilities to the European market. The company gained popularity in Europe as consumers increasingly care about sustainability and green energy.

Magda Teresa Partyka, EcoFlow's public relations and communications manager in Europe, said consumers are paying more attention to how electronic products could be sustainable and what this actually means.

She added that sustainability is no longer "a word used a lot in PR." Instead, people now understand what is behind it and that "we are responsible for our planet."
